Eötvös Loránd university is Hungary’s oldest and largest university, founded 1635 by Péter Pázmány, Cardinal of Esztergom, was originally launched as a Jesuit university consisting of a humanities and a theology faculty. Now the university consists of 8 faculties: Law, Humanities, Informatics, Education and Psychology, Social Sciences, Science, Special Education as well as Primary and Pre-School Education.
ELTE is one of the most popular institutions in Hungary, and receives the highest number of applications for admission every year. The university offers 38 Bachelor’s degree programmes in 9 fields of study, 90 Master’s in 6 fields of study and 116 doctoral programmes in 17 doctoral schools. 7,5 % of our courses are taught in English or in other foreign language. The university has 29.850 students and 1.592 academic staff members.
The university has agreements with more than 330 universities in Europe, and is active membership of leading international networks (Coimbra Group. Utrecht network, UNICA, etc.)
